Spyvalve converts bivalve behaviour into real-time environmental intelligence. Sensors attached to shells measure opening and closing activity, which is processed locally by a low-power microprocessing board. This converts biological signals into digital data.

The data are live-streamed to the network, where they are analysed in real time. Machine-learning models identify abnormal behavioural patterns—such as prolonged or synchronised shell closures—that indicate environmental stress. When predefined thresholds are met, Spyvalve automatically raises an alert and notifies the appropriate personnel.

This early warning capability enables rapid investigation and response, allowing managers and operators to act before impacts escalate and causes become difficult to trace.
